Solution / Answer |
See the following table. Impossible Crack from the opaque separation*1 Cracks from too much compressive stress*1 Possible Tensile Stress Cracks.*2 Cracks from Impact (for example, the crown was dropped) Cracks from local intensive heat (heat created by grinding too hard). Cracks form flux contamination. *1 Cracks along the framework (the crack does not disappear with water) *2 Cracks that are not related to the framework shape (The crack disappears when wetted with water.) However, there is the possibility that a new crack will form in another place. Baking Program for mending Cracks with Addmate: Dry Out Time 5min. 450°C-°- ° |

Problem / Question |
How can I try to bake before using Addmate? |
Solution / Answer |
Apply a small amount of Addmate on old used crown and bake it following the schedule IV. If there is no shine at 700°C (1292°F), raise the temperature in increments of 10°C (20°F) each. If, for example, surface is not glossy at 710°C, but is glossy at 720°C (1328°F), this means that the actual temperature is 700°C when the furnace reads 720?C. In this case, raise all baking temperature settings and vacuum release temperature settings by 20°C (68°C) more. On the other hand, if the surface is too glossy at 700°C (1292°F), lower the temperature in 10°C (20°F) increments until the surface has a slight luster. |

Problem / Question |
Can I do post-soldering after baking Addmate? |
Solution / Answer |
It is risky. You might get bubbles because the baking temperature of Addmate is lower than temperature of post-soldering. If you need to this kind of repair, first grind off the Addmate, then repair the parts with EX-3 as desired, then post-solder the case, then make additional porcelain repairs with Addmate as desired. |
