NAGOYA, JAPAN (March 16, 2011) – Noritake Dental Supply today announced launch of the new Noritake KATANA CAD/CAM System integrated with a milling unit design by Roland DG Corporation. The compact, affordable system is engineered for streamlined production of precision zirconia frameworks from design to completion at in-house dental offices and commercial dental laboratories.
With the new KATANA DWX-30N and DWX-50N, a wide variety of materials and shapes are millable for the entire arch. Moreover, an automatic tool changer and integrated air blower system (available in DWX-50N) are ideal for materials such as wax, zirconia and PMMA. The system also features additional production capability of provisional crowns made by PMMA.
The new system includes a KATANA SC-3 laser scanner with easy and automatic calibration which ensures constant scan accuracy, exclusive CAD software, a CAM milling device for zirconia blocks and discs, and Noritake original milling materials. Given the recent significant rise in the cost of gold alloy price and potential allergic reactions from non-precious alloy, zirconia is an ideal material for quality, strength, and stable pricing.
Noritake chose to integrate the system with Roland's newest compact CNC milling machines built on more than twenty years of experience in subtractive rapid prototyping (SRP) technology featuring compact design, clean, quiet operation, and quality, high-speed machining.
